Marwan and Joe have been matched since September 17, 2020. Marwan is 14-years-old and is currently in the 9th grade at Belmont High School. He lives at home with his mom, stepdad, and younger brother. Marwan’s mom shared that she wanted him to have a Big Brother so he had someone outside of the family to go to for guidance and to look up to. Marwan was excited from the moment he got involved in the program and shared he was excited to be the Little Brother and have someone to learn from like his younger brother can from him.
Marwan and Joe clicked very quickly once they were matched. They enjoy doing a variety of activities including practicing basketball, which Marwan has discovered a love for. They also enjoy attending different local festivals and events or going out to eat together.
Marwan’s mom shared that over the last year, Joe has become a very important part of Marwan’s life. As the match just recently celebrated their 1-year match anniversary, Joe shared he and Marwan had a really good and exciting year. He also shared he is looking forward to this next year as he watches Marwan continue to grow and they find new adventures.
