Big Brothers Big Sisters Miami Valley Receives $35,000 Grant Award from Arby’s Foundation
DAYTON, OH June 23, 2020 – Big Brothers Big Sisters Miami Valley is proud to announce that it is the recipient of a $35,000 grant award from the Arby’s Foundation. The Arby’s Foundation makes a difference through local grants in communities across the country having given $92 million to youth-related causes since 1986.
“Big Brothers Big Sisters works because of donors and supporters like the Arby’s Foundation.,” said Anne Pfeiffer, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters Miami Valley. “Their commitment and investment to making a proven difference inspires and motivates us to do and achieve more every day. Because of their continued support, the lives of the children in our community are changing for the better, forever.”
Big Brothers Big Sisters Miami Valley has been providing mentoring services for 62 years and serves over 500 children by connecting them with supportive adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and supporting those mentoring relationships. These relationships are especially important now helping children navigate the myriad of challenges our community is currently facing from COVID-19 concerns, to the economic crisis, to racism.
“When children have the influence of a caring adult, they are better equipped to overcome obstacles,” said Curt Oxyer, Vice President of AES Restaurant Group which locally owns and operates 26 Arby’s locations in the Miami Valley and 72 restaurants overall. “Now more than ever, our area youth are facing a variety of challenges, and being matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister helps them navigate these crises. We believe every kid deserves to dream big and pursue their dreams with confidence, which is why we are proud supporters of Big Brothers Big Sisters.”
